Arlene

Arlene Anderson

Arlene Zisumbo Anderson is a native of Utah. Her parents are from Michoacan, Mexico. She lives in Ogden with hertwo beautiful children Ayden and Mya and is very involved in their school Community Council and PTA. She is also involved in numerous community organizations and committees that promote education, diversity and health care. Arlene works for Intermountain Healthcare-McKay Dee Hospital. She received her Bachelor degree in Respiratory Therapy at Weber State University. She has worked in this field for over 16 years with an emphasis in Newborn Intensive Care. She was also a member of the NICU Life Flight team.She is very passionate about reducing disparities in healthcare. She currently works in Quality Management supervising the Language program department at McKay Dee Hospital. She is a trainer for the State of Utah in Cultural and Linguistically Appropriate Services in Healthcare.

Rhosbita Photo Rhosbita Barker (Executive Committee Member)

Rhosby Barker is President of the organization Chiapanecos Unidos de Utah. She is a writer and a poet with a poetry book and a CD of her own. Rhosby is a Spanish teacher at The Salt Lake Academy. She also works as leader of the barrio professors on the Mariachi program at West High School. She received her Bachelor's degree in Humanities from Sistema Educativo Nacional. Rhosby received a Teaching Degree from the Normal Del Estado, English as a second language from Colegio Euro, and a Specialization on how to direct educative centers from Instituto de Investigación para el Desarrollo de la Investigación.
Nolberto Nolberto Castro

Nolberto was born in Chile. He graduated in 1997 with a degree in International Business (Import/Export). He worked for the Chilean Army for 9 years then moved to Utah in 1997 and married his wife Eileen. Nolberto has been working in Accounting for JC Penney for the past 9 years. He is the Executive President for the Chilean Community of Utah and a member of the Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Rosalba Photo Rosalba Dominguez

Rosalba Dominguez, was born and raised in Salt Lake City, UT. She is a first generation Chicana, and strives to serve in her own community by strengthening the confidence in other Latinas and Latinos to take risks in education, work, community, and volunteering. She has had a successful career in event planning and logistics specialist for over 5 years. She is an active member of the Junior League of Salt Lake City, Las Comadres and member for Centro Cívico Mexicano.
Carlos Photo Carlos Linares (Chair)

Carlos A. Linares is the President and CEO of Linares Consulting Group, Inc., specializing in the areas of organizational and leadership development. Carlos is the former President and CEO of the Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and also served as assistant vice president in a private banking division of a local financial institution. Carlos received his baccalaureate in International Business and MBA from Westminster College, where he is an adjunct professor at the Gore School of Business.
Joe Photo Joe Juan Mena (Vice-Chair)

Joe J. Mena was born in Mexico City, Mexico. He is the Lead Business Technologies Instructor for the SLT-ATC (Salt Lake Tooele Applied Technology College). Joe is assistant Director for PPFH (Poder Para La Familia Hispana), former vice chair of IME (Institute for Mexicans Abroad Rocky Mountain Regional Council) Member of United States Navy Reserve 8 years and recipient of National Image Award 2006. Joe is currently finishing his Bachelor degree at Western Governors University.
Araueni 2009 Araueni Olivares (Executive Committee Member)

Araueni was born in Chicago of Mexican parents from Michoacán. His name is indigenous of the Purépecha tribe from Michoacán, México. He is a community activist and advocate for underserved populations, such as undocumented immigrants, refugees, and youth. Araueni was the co-founder of the Salt Lake Chapter of the Brown Berets, which organizes youth in support of immigrant rights. Araueni is also a member of the Utah Hispanic/Latino Legislative Taskforce, which takes action on legislation that affects the Latino community. Araueni is currently a student pursuing his degree in Social Work at the University of Utah.
Ingrid Photo Ingrid Quiroz

Ingrid Quiroz is originally from Barranquilla, Colombia. She is currently the editor of La Prensa Times. She was honored by the Society of Professional Journalists of Utah in 2004 as best reporter. Ingrid was recognized among the top 100 Hispanic Journalists in the nation. She was featured in Utah Business Magazine in October 2003. Ingrid organized the First Latin Beauty Festival in 1997.
Sylvia Photo Sylvia Garcia Rickard

Sylvia Garcia Rickard is a Mexican American and a 2 time-15 year breast cancer (advocate) survivor. Sylvia has dedicated her life to ending breast cancer and reducing cancer health disparities and accessing healthcare for the medically underserved. She attended the University of Arizona and now serves on numerous National, State and Regional Health Committees.

Elvecia E. Ramos

Elvecia E. Ramos was raised in Southern California and moved to Utah two years ago. She is the Publisher and Editor for Palacio De Northern Utah Magazine and Palacio De Long Beach Magazine in California. A free bilingual English/Spanish magazine that is designed to bridge communications between the Hispanic/Latino population. Her passion is to empower the community by providing resources that will help educate them and guide them on the right path to prosperity. She also has a background experience in financial planning, mortgage planning and the real estate industry.

Natalia Natalia Solache

Natalia Solache, a Mexican native has been a community volunteer for over 6 years. Her role as a social worker puts her in daily direct touch with the Hispanic/Latino community. Natalia was selected as National Parent Leader in February 2006 by Parents anonymous.
Sally Photo Sally Valdez

Sally Valdez was born in Wyoming and raised in Utah. Her family has been in the United States for over 200 years. She received a degree in Nursing from Weber State University and a Masters degree in Public Administration from the University of Utah. Sally is a retired police officer with 20 years of service. Currently she is a registered nurse who focuses on elderly abuse.
Juan Photo Juan Carlos Vazquez (Executive Committee Member)

Juan Carlos Vazquez is a Mexican Native, with a bachelor Degree in Education with a minor in Physical Education from Weber State University and a Master degree in Second Language Teaching with an emphasis in Multicultural Education and Second Language Acquisition from Utah State University. Juan Carlos is currently a Project Director for the Center for Persons with Disabilities. He also teaches Spanish classes as an Adjunct Professor at Utah State.
